Insurance UX heuristics
Nielsen's heuristics adapted to financially-consequential insurance journeys, so machine and human design review score against the same list. Used by the design-crit skill and the Design Review gate.
The checklist
- Error prevention for consequential actions — confirmation and guards before anything that binds cover, takes payment, or files a claim.
- Status visibility for policies & claims — the user always knows the state of their policy, quote or claim.
- Plain-language jargon handling — insurance terms explained in context (ties to content & microcopy).
- Recoverability in long journeys — quote-and-buy and claims flows can be paused, resumed and corrected without data loss.
- Visibility of consequences — the user understands what a choice costs or commits them to before they make it.
A concrete, insurance-specific checklist means the design-crit skill flags real issues and human reviewers judge against the same bar — no "looks fine to me" subjectivity.
